External HD fails to open

Hard drive is a Western Digital, 1 TB, connected to iMac 10.13.3 (High Sierra). It shows up on disk utility as Unmounted. If I try to Erase, Partition or perform any operation, it comes back with a "Failed to open" message.

external hard drive not showing up on desktop Hi! So I just plugged in a new, blank 4t Seagate external hard drive, and it hasn't shown up on my desktop. The light on the hard drive is showing up to show it's connected. My MacBook is 2019 and on macOS Catalina version 10.15.4. When I go into disk utility the external hard drive is faded and when I try to mount it a popup says "Could not mount “disk2s2”. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930868.)". External Hard drive isn't connecting/showing to Macbook Pro 16" 2021 I received the Macbook Pro 16" 2021 today and attempted to connect my external hard drive and it isn't connecting. The external hard drive connects to other older mac computers and it's been formatted for macs I've selected in Finder that it shows external hard drives I've restarted the computer and it showed only one part of the external, not the usable part It doesn't show up in disk utility at all The internal disk in the external hard drive is spinning If anyone has any suggestions/solutions, I'm open. External hard drive won't mount after power blip After a momentary power interruption this morning, my external hard drive (on which I have a Time Machine backup) does not mount and does not appear in Finder. (It is a LaCie 2TB USB drive.) The device is recognized in System Information and Disk Utility, but an attempt to mount it in Disk Utility returns this error message: Could not mount “disk2s2”. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930868.) I have tried First Aid in Disk Utility but it fails. Restarting the computer did not help either. I have a Mac Mini (Late 2014) running MacOS Big Sur Ver. 11.6.2. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!
