I've been using Photos and its predecessor iPhoto for years. The unwanted screen appeared a couple of weeks ago when I had to regenerate the photo library from Time Machine because of a corruption problem.
What is most interesting is that not more than 10 minutes ago when I started Photos, as a test, the undesired window disappeared. I have no idea why. It still hasn't shown up despite my quitting and restarting Photos.
I appreciate your interest in trying to help me. Thank you.
Perhaps my system has some 'self-healing' properties.
Look for a small checkbox in a corner that you check or uncheck so it does not appear anymore.
It appears to be missing. It would usually be on the bottom left. What happens if you click on the button?
I assume you mean the "Get Started" button. When that is hit the window disappears and the usual Photos screen is visible. The "What's New..." window is not a problem, just an annoyance.
I think once you have loaded and set your photo library you won't see that screen any longer.
Thank you. I've made a point to check that periodically.
