Question: An endless loop with no way to sign in to iTunes

I have been caught in the same endless loop others have experienced. The exception for me is that my sign in comes up with an old email account and will not let me sign in with my Apple ID and password. As a result i cannot quit iTunes. I am stuck - can anyone help please?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
