I cannot locate my iPad backup. Can anyone give me the location? Cannot find it in iCloud - online. Sharon

Thank you for replying. I must have the wrong specs showing for my device, but its a 2017 ipad, (5?) running 11x ios. I found another place to find the size of the backup and it differs from the Zero KB the first location showed. Settings>AppleID>iCloud>Manage Storage> Backups shows all my apple devices and their correlating backup sizes. After resetting the sold iPad it was removed, but has since shown up again. (!?) What is important though, is removing your Apple ID from the device before resetting it.

Yes, you can see the backup size in either of those two places. But I do want to make sure that you are going through all of the recommended steps before giving away or selling your iOS device - removing your Apple ID from the device is only one of the things you should do:

Prepare your device to sell or give away

You cannot see your backups online unless you have a Mac. You can then go to >System Preferences>iCloud, then click Manage at the bottom of that window, you will see "Backups" in the list of items taking storage. There you can see your most recent backups for all devices backing up to that iCloud account.

However, you may have additional iCloud backups which are not listed here. I usually see around 3 sets of backups per device when I'm testing, but I'm sure that varies depending on number of devices, sizes of backups, etc.

What is it that you are wanting to know about your backup?

Yes, that problem seems to be happening rather randomly. It has happened on my iPad. It said that the Last Backup was 0KB, but i erased my iPhone 5s and restored it from the iPad Backup, and it was fine. It also shows the correct backup size for the iPad on my other iOS devices, as well as in my >System Preferences>iCloud>Manage>Backups, so I think it is just not showing the correct size for certain devices/iOS levels, possibly. My iPad is an iPad 1 so is running 5.1.1.

Do you have a Mac? If so go to the System Preferences mentioned above. You should see the backup with the timestamp of the time you did it.

Is your iPad running an older iOS?

“What to do before you sell or give away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch” is a helpful Apple article. I was following those instructions when I discovered the problem of Zero KB reported for backup file size and subsequently trying to locate my backup files. That question is still unanswered, because you gave me the directions to find the backup files if I own a MAC, which I don’t, but is there a way to view the backup file details in their location for Windows, created from the backups produced in settings>Apple id> iCloud Backup > Backup Now?

Those are the only two places to see an iCloud backup list, but I tested the 0KB backup that my older iPad was showing the correct backup total under Settings>your name>iCloud>Manage Storage>Backups, so I erased my iPhone 5s and then restored it from the iCloud backup for the iPad.

Although there were a lot of things that were not compatible as a result of the vast difference between the backup iOS (5.1.1), and my iPhone 5 iOS (11.2.6), the majority of backed up information restored to my device.

My recommendation at this point would be to try to restore your new device to the backup. It sounds like you have already erased the iPad, so you can try it there, or you can try it on your new device.

Best of luck,

GB
