Select files between two
How do I select files first and last using shift? It doesn't work, it only selects the first and last element. Thanks

It only seems to work if you view the files in a list, rather than as icons.
To create a discontinuous selection of items use the ⌘ key. Shift will create a continuous selection.
I need to create a continuous selection, but Shift doesn't work. It does work only when files are in a list rather than as icons ad said by the guy above.
That's correct, because having a list is a prerequisite for a continuous list.
Yeah but that's annoying.. in Windows you can do that also with icons and it's way useful..I can't see a reason for it not to be possible in MacOS
FWIW, if you are in Icon View, click and hold the cursor just outside of the first file you want to select then drag to where you want the selection to end.
If you need a screen shot let me know.
This works if your icons are in a square or rectangular pattern, but if they are not you need to make multiple selections
::smh:: if they are spread in some irregular pattern then hold the command key and click on each one.
FWIW, it's difficult to say what is being done in the GIF. There are multiple ways to select files in multiple views. Hopefully you can find one that works for you.
That's me in the gif, doing the same thing first on MacOS and then in Windows. Btw thanks
Welcome. FWIW, I have Macs and Windows 10 machines and the speed of selecting files has never been an impediment for me.
That's not a big problem but anyways it's a feature I like and It would have been nice to have it also in MacOS.
