Using running app means no music

Lately when using my running app my music will either stop playing randomly or play the same artist over and over again even if it's on shuffle from the "songs" category in my library and then eventually may screens will freeze for a second. this just started about a week ago but I didn't think too much of it, however, now it is getting worse
