Cannot install or update software after upgrading to Mac High Sierra OS

Hello there,

After upgrading my MacBook Pro to Mac High Sierra OS, I'm not able to install or upgrade any software on the machine. I tracked down the problem to a permission issue with the tmp folder. Tried the following but doesn't seem to help.

Thank you in advance for your help!

name-mac:private root# rm -R tmp

rm: tmp: Permission denied

name-mac:private root# whoami

root

name-mac:private root# pwd

/private

name-mac:private root# ls -altO | grep tmp

drwxrwxrwx 2 root wheel - 64 Mar 15 17:18 tmp

name-mac:private root# csrutil status

System Integrity Protection status: disabled.

name-mac:private root# diskutil resetUserPermissions / `id -u`

Ready to reset user permissions on disk1s1 Macintosh HD

Started verify/repair permissions on disk1s1 Macintosh HD

User permissions have been reset

Finished verify/repair permissions on disk1s1 Macintosh HD

name-mac:private root# rm -R tmp

rm: tmp: Permission denied
