iMac Pro 8 Core Warm to Touch While Sleeping Fans High After Wake

This morning when I hit the power button to wake my iMac Pro from sleep, the chassis was a bit warm to the touch. Within a minute of waking from sleep and unlocking with Apple Watch, I heard the fans on high. I recently built 1:1 previews for >2000 raw files and never heard the fans. Touching the chassis in various locations around back the chassis wasn't "hot" but I suspect it was warmer than it would ever get in a full day of actual use. And there was columns of warm air blasting from the exhaust port with the fans spinning on high (has anyone heard their fans spool up to high?). I looked at activity monitor right away and of course cpu utilization was low/normal.

I wonder what was generating this heat while it was asleep? This causes me a bit of concern to know something is getting hot inside while asleep without active cooling available. I'll be shutting down in the future overnights and when no one is home.
