When merging multi cameras photos, they arrange in date order but not time. How can I get both?

Photos taken by different devices not effectively sorted by time During my holidays I took pictures with my iPhone and with an old Nikon D60 camera. I synced iPhone photos via iCloud and imported the Nikon photos to Apple Photos. I would like to merge the "two sources" simply by time. In Photos I selected View->Sort->Keep Sorted By Oldest First, but still my pictures are not exactly merged. They generally are, but seems that they stay a bit grouped by source device and it happens that some photos taken by one device on a moment are sorted after photos taken 2/3 days later by the other device. Can anyone help me on that please? thanks in advance

Pics in photos are out of time order even though sort order is by oldest date capture. I returned from a trip. I have pics from 3 cameras, iPhones download. I had all their date, times set the same. Downloaded them in Photos and they are not in time order. They are all in the right day, but not in time order. It makes it hard to keep the best pics from one event when you have scroll back and forth from different cameras to see the same pic, taken at the same time from different camera. Keep in mind, the data in the photo have the correct date and time, but it is sorting it by day and time and by camera. Sort is greyed out and set to oldest date capture. Can you tell me how to get them all in time order no matter what camera? iMac, Catalina.

How to stop Photos sorting by device then date/time On a recent trip I used a Nikon DSLR and an iPhone 13 Pro Max for taking all my photos. I made sure that the date/time on the DSLR was set exactly to the iPhone - I have validated this by checking the metadata of a number of photos. However, after importing the images into Photos and sorting by Oldest first it is apparent that Photos sorts by device then date/time. For me this is a big issue as trying to compare similar photos taken at the same time by both devices is very time consuming. Is there any way of changing the sort to ignore the device and just consider the date/time?

Have the clocks in the cameras set to the same date and time (or timezone)?

You can sort the photos by camera in Photos, if you create two smart albums, one for each camera model:

File > New smart album
Then use a rule "Camera model is ..." and select your camera from the drop down menu.

Now select the photos for one camera together in the smart album for the camera and use the command "Image > Adjust Date&Time" to shift the time for all selected photos by the same amount.

The bottom of the Adjust Date&Time" panel is showing the closest city for the time zone. Make sure, that the closest city selected there is identical for both cameras for the photos you want to adjust.
