Can't update watchOS

I have a Series 2 watch. The Watch app on my phone indicates I have a watchOS update (I'm still running 4.0 so I know I do) but when I tap Software Update it says "To update the software on your Apple Watch, you first need to update the software on your iPhone." Problem is I'm already running iOS 11.2.6 so there is no update. I've tried restarting the phone and the watch to no avail.

unable to update Apple Watch So the question is quite long to explain. I own an iPhone 7 which still runs amazingly well and we all know iOS 16 is not given for iPhone 7 so im still on iOS 15 I own Apple Watch 6 and it is currently on watchOS 8.7. when I try to go to the software update page it shows need to update phone first to update the watch any methods or workaround to update my watchOS considering it is paired to my iPhone 7. any leads or help would be much appreciate. take care.!
