Podcasts not syncing between itunes and ios

Have gone through the set up, as in apple pages. All settings were already on. Syncing does not work. nothing shows in library, when added on mac, or when added in ios. iPhoneX - iOS 11.2.6 and macOS High Sierra 10.13.3. Other apps such as notes, and contacts syncing perfectly. I haven't used podcasts in iTunes before, and must say looking at the years of issues while searching for a fix, this is my most disappointing apple app.

Hello theJodster,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that Podcasts aren't syncing between your Mac and iPhone X. I can surely see how this could be concerning since other content syncs without issue. I'm happy to help.

You mentioned all settings were on, please review the settings below and make sure everything is accurate on both devices:

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

By default, shows sync across any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if you're signed in to all of the devices with the same Apple ID. You can turn this setting off if you don’t want to sync shows to a particular device.

  1. Go to Settings > Podcasts.
  2. Turn off Sync Podcasts.
    User uploaded file

If your shows aren't refreshing on a particular device, make sure that this setting is turned on.

In iTunes on your Mac or PC

If you want to sync your shows in iTunes with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, follow these steps:

  1. Mac: From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose iTunes > Preferences.
Windows: From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose Edit > Preferences.
  2. Click the Store tab.
  3. Select "Sync podcast subscriptions and settings."

If the issue persists, try restarting both devices and test the issue again.

Let us know the results. Please include any other troubleshooting steps you may have tried.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi stirling r, Yep those settings were already on. Tried turning the settings off, turning back on, restarting, still no sync at all. iNotes syncs perfectly. At the moment I am copying the podcast name into notes on my mac, this syncs with my iPhone, where I copy from notes, then search for the podcast on my iPhone. I am not too worried, I don't listen to that many podcasts. I am just really disappointed that apple would offer an app, that clearly looking at past issues, has problems.
