FCPX no audio import canon GL2

mid 2015 iMac.....2 thunderbolt 2 to firewire adapters used and firewire 800 to 400 and canon gl2 mini dv camcorder...after multiple attempts using iMovie 10.1.8 would transfer the video but no audio. So i bought FCPX today and there still is no audio transferred onto iMac 2015....has anyone else experienced this problem? if so...is there a fix....using high sierra 10.13.3...tried a few other free video editing programs....but no success in the audio file transfer...Video transfers just fine in iMovie and FCPX and other video editing programs....just not the audio....any suggestions my fellow FCPX users and iMac users....Everything transfers fine on my mid 2011 iMac just not the mid 2015 iMac...Thank you...
