Question: Trying to add apps in initial setup

I've created a child account for my kids and set them up on iPad. I've purchased quite a few apps that I'd like to add to their iPad but each time I try to restore a previously purchased app, I'm prompted to enter a password. Since I have a reasonably complex password this is really annoying to do for each and every app. (I also don't understand why I have to enter the password for apps I've already purchased.)

I tried this signed into iTunes under the child account, then signed out and signed back in under my parental account and made sure to turn off Always Require password for iTunes and set it to Require After 15 Minutes. Still prompts every single time to download an app that I've already purchased. How does this make any sense??

Hello mozillalives,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to download apps you purchased on your child's iPad, as it asks for your password every time. To help with this situation, you will need to setup Family Sharing, as that gives access to sharing iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases. Please check out this Apple resource on Family Sharing and sharing purchases.

Not quite. I did setup family sharing. But even with family sharing, I still have to enter my password each time for previously purchased apps (which doesn’t make sense) even when I login into itunes with my own account. Is this just a really serious, stupid design flaw or is there some way to fix this?

Thanks for replying, mozillalives, and that additional info, it really helps! Since you have already setup Family Sharing and it isn't working as expected, your next step is to contact Apple for further help with your situation.
