Numbers crashed and is now broken, won't open any window

Hello, I was editing a new table in a new tab of Numbers 4.3.1 under Sierra when the app crashed.

Upon reopening it I found out that it would not open any of my documents (.numbers). I can select them but after the loading window disapears the document is not shown. The About window also does not appear and if I try to view the preferences it crashes.

I restarted the computer but it didn't help.

Same after deleting Containers/com.apple.iWork.Numbers

OK. I suggest launch the app Launch Pad. Then delete Numbers (like you do on an iPhone... click and hold the application until it starts to shake, then click the "X" to delete). then reinstall Numbers from the App Store

try holding the shift key when launching Numbers (by clicking on the Numbers icon). This tell Numbers to start without open previously open files.

Then If it launches, quit Number and launch again. The try to open documents

Quit Numbers

In the Finder:

- open the folder "~/Library/Preferences/" by selecting the menu item "Go > Go To Folder…"

- enter the path "~/Library/Preferences/"

- locate the file

"com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist"

- move this file to the Desktop (just so we can preserve the file if needed)

Launch Numbers and try to open files

if it launches correctly, then move the prefs file to the trash

There's no such file in this directory.

However there is one in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iWork.Numbers/Data/Library/Preferences/

But as I mentioned deleting the com.apple.iWork.Numbers folder didn't solve the problem.

Okay that worked, I can open my precious files again ! thanks

Strangely though, after it installed and before I launched it I clicked on update and that made the app being listed as not installed, yet it is in the Application folder. Also when I deleted it via launchpad it deleted what I think was version 4.3.1 inside the iWork'09 folder, and now after reinstall it's in the main Application folder with Pages v6 (while I still have Pages v4.3 in iWork '09 folder).
