iCloud for Windows installs but can't link to Outlook 2016

Hi all, I'm setting up my new PC which came with Windows 10 and Office 2016. iCloud for Windows installs OK, except after logging into iCloud, produces an error 'Repair iCloud for Windows to use iCloud with Outlook'. Using the repair tool in 'Program and Features' as it suggests doesn't resolve the issue. I've downloaded/re-installed the app several times too.

Any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

iCloud for Windows add-in stops working in Outlook 2016. This happens about every few months. Currently cannot get it to enable so no calendar or task syncing. Very frustrating. What is a person to do? iCloud for Windows is very unreliable. I use Outlook 2016 with the iCloud add-in to sync a personal calendar and task list. It switches itself to disabled every so often. Usually, I can enable it and return to normal. Sometimes I have to go to iCloud setup and uncheck the mail, calendar and tasks item, click the Apply button, restart Outlook, and then re-check that item in the iCloud setup and apply it. This will rebuild it in Outlook and return things to normal. This time, neither of those options are working. I seem to be stuck with a desktop machine that will not sync with iCloud. I have a laptop with the same setup working fine. What is up with this iCloud for Windows app? It is very unreliable on a PC running Windows. I find the web browser interface and iPhone interface for updating tasks to be horrible so the only way to do this well is on computer.

iCloud for Windows refuses to work with Outlook I have a Dell XPS 15 less than a year old. I run Windows 10 1809 now. I also use Office 2016 for Home use and SOHO. Today I removed all Apple software from my laptop and installed a fresh copy of iCloud for Windows. It's still not working. On my previous laptop iCloud for Windows worked fine. Installation of iCloud for Windows is done without any warnings or errors. As soon as I log in to iCloud the first thing I get is this: The error says: Repair iCloud for Windows to make it work with Outlook. Of course I tried to repair iCloud as stated (many times) but that does not change a thing. The option for Mail, contacts, etc is grayed out and iCloud does not work with Outlook. I had some hope this would be fixed by an update, but after several updates it seems Apple is ignoring the people complaining about this issue. Apple support: please help me (and the others) out and help me to fix this! Not so happy greeting, from the low lands.

Link not working In the "If the installed version of Outlook is not supported" section of: Get help using Outlook with iCloud for Windows - Apple Support the following link is not working: If you receive an error that says the Installed version of Outlook is not supported by iCloud, uninstall the version of Office that you got from the Windows store. Then, follow these steps to install Office 365.
