Google Calendar one day out on iPhone app

I've just started to use Google Calendar on my work desktop and via the app on my iphone (synced) and whilst I enter an event/ meeting etc on the desktop, once it syncs to my iPhone it shows up as occurring one day later rather than the date that I set on the desktop. For example, I'll set up an event for 5pm on the 10 January on my desktop and when synced it will show up on the App as 5pm on the 11th January. I've read a few other threads that didn't help and were several years old and can't believe that this is just a one-off glitch - anyone know what to do as the App looks pretty good and useful but not with it being a day out?
