You will need to use the higher resolution photo file. There is no way to upgrade the dimensions of the smaller version you have. For photo printing, it is recommended that there be approx 300 pixels per inch of desired print size IE: an 8"X10" print would need a photo with dimensions of 2400X3000 pixels. A pleasing print can be made using 200 pixels per inch of print size, but 300 would be better.

Certainly the old rule-of-thumb was 300ppi but these days with the improvements in cameras and printers it is possible to get quite remarkable results at lower than that. However, these service has specified a minimum size and the only way to get to that is to use interpolation and for that you'll need something like Photoshop. Even at that, and assuming you have a very sharp image, interpolation will always make it softer and less sharp. If your image is already a little soft you'll just be wasting money.

When I need a photo with more pixels than the original image file has, I am using the online image enlarger, see this link: http://www.imageenlarger.com/

It is a free service that offers several interpolation methods, that will increase the image size, without blurring the edges.

It is working quite well to enlarge photos by a factor up to three, but try several different interpolation algorithms on that page and pick the best one for your particular pictures. The problem is, that jpeg artifacts will also be enlarged.
