iCloud Login from System Preferences Always Fails

This morning, iCloud began prompting me to sign in to my iCloud account via system preferences. Unfortunately, when I enter my password, the authentication fails with the message "An unknown error occurred."

I'm able to log in to the iCloud.com website and into this support forum with the same iCloud credentials so it's not an issue of me not knowing my password.

Any suggestion for how to get iCloud working again on macOS (I have version 10.13.3)?

Error Connecting to iCloud Hello I have a 2016 macbook pro running Sierra 10.12.6 The following pathway is not working for me: System Settings > iCloud > Account Details > enter @mac. com password. I am getting an error message "Account Details could not be opened because of an error connecting to iCloud." I also often get an error message while I'm online, saying "Could not connect to iCloud" This is despite me being connected to the internet, despite iCloud System Settings saying I am logged in and despite me definitely using the correct @mac.com iCloud password as I am able to log in to my iCloud account via the iCloud website. iMac can't sign in to Apple ID My iMac can't sign in to iCloud or AppleID. I can sign in if I open a browser, but from the system preferences it won't. When I try I get a verification failed. When going through the App store and it asks for the log in it can't verify again. I know it's the correct user and password, I'm logged in on the browser with it now.
