How can I import Webm file into Final Cut Pro X?

I'm trying to edit some webm video files in FCPX.


I need to convert the files into a form that FCPX can read.


There are malware scam apps out there claiming to do this. Is there a proper way? Is there an open source converter that will run on Mac? The only things I see on the webm project webiste are Linux desktop apps.

I downloaded one sample webm file.

It played fine in VLC.

Then I was able to convert it using VLC's File->Convert/Stream... command.

Sorenson Squeeze can do it, however it is intended for users with heavy compression workloads, so it is expensive.

I see they have a 30 day free trial - not sure if the free trial watermarks the converted footage or not:

You might want to take a look, or find somebody with Squeeze.

There also may be other solutions.
