Stolen apple watch

I was given an Apple Watch but it was stolen within hours. I have the gift receipt because but nothing else. I didn’t even have a chance to turn on the watch on and sync it. I’m a huge apple user and was never so excited to receive a gift. If I can’t get it back can we make sure the person who took it can’t use it.
