I see that your question hasn't been answered yet, so here are a few things you can answer that may allow the community to help you:

How are you trying to open the links in new tabs?
What happens when you try?
Do these links open fine otherwise?
Do you have this issue on every website?

When I am checking my email and an email references a link, when I hit on the link, Used to get my server( in this case SAFARI) and it would pull up the website referred to tin the link. Now I just get SAFARI and a blank line to enter the link.

That is true about any link I click on or any button I may push on to continue a link into another phase. It just started yesterday out of nowhere.
