Re-downloading High Quality Images from iCloud

This forum software wouldn't let me edit my original post, or delete it, so I am creating a new one.

So apparently iOS decided to enable iCloud Photo backup without telling me.


Now it is giving me alerts that 667 photos "could not be downloaded in full original size" because I don't have enough space on my phone. Apparently iOS decided to set it to "download in low quality".

The problem is I dont use iCloud photos. I use Google Photos. And I want all my stuff on my phone in *original* high quality. But apparently iOS has taken all of that OFF my phone and put it into the cloud.


Now how do I get it?


I tried freeing up space. I don't believe it reacted by re-downloading everything.

I tried disabling iCloud. It threatened to delete all my photos off the phone (!!!) ***...


If I disable iCloud, let it delete my entire life, change the setting to "Download in Original Quality", then re-enable iCloud, will it put everything back on my phone in high quality? If not, how can I get all my images back on my phone. And in the future - apple - dont turn something on without asking me.

I understand that you noticed your photos were uploaded to iCloud Photo Library, and now you don't have enough storage to download all of the original photos to your iPhone. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

To download all of the original photos to your iPhone, you'll need to ensure you have enough free space. This means that even if you disable iCloud Photo Library and enable "Download and Keep Originals" before enabling it again, you'll still need that storage available. Once you have enough iPhone Storage, you can enable the option to keep the originals on your iPhone. Tap Settings > Photos > Download and Keep Originals. You can learn more about this functionality here:
