Photos editing performance

I have been using a 2011 Mac book Pro and running Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.3. I have been using iPhoto to edit my photographs and I was pleased with the programs efficiency. However since the transition to Photos in one of the updates a couple months ago I have found that the new program is extremely slow and clunky. Is this a common problem and is there a fix or troubleshooting procedure that would enhance the program and make it more efficient?

Final Cut Pro 10.4 sees iPhoto library but not photos app Has anyone found a solution to this bug yet? I have this problem on my powerhouse Mac Pro as well as on my maxed out MacBook Pro. They both see the iPhoto’s app library (haven’t used that in many years but keep it as a backup) but not the photos app library. Thanks to anyone who has any tips! Final cut I have is 10.4 and I do not want to upgrade it if possible as I have it working how I want. I use high Sierra and machines are all maxed out with best processors and max ram, ssd main drives and hybrid secondary drives for max speed. Thanks!

Mac Photos performance issues during editing I recently upgraded an older macbook pro to high sierra and photos 3.0. Now when I open a photo for editing for the first time, I get a spinner in the bottom right corner of the photo and no changes take effect for 45-90 seconds. If I edit the photo again later, it's not quite as bad. Is there any way to improve performance? I've tried creating a new library with a handful of pictures, and the performance is just as bad. I've also tried editing photos that were imported with the previous version of photos, and the performance is still terrible. I've also left photos running in the background while the laptop is idle for multiple days (I saw some suggestions that it might need to complete background processing). Any ideas?

iPhoto does not want to edit certain pictures Hi there I am on iMac 5k late 2015 running OSX El Captain und have used iPhoto many times to edit pictures.I recently went back in my photo library to 2011 and found pictures that have been imported from Nikon D200that iPhoto does not want to edit anymore. When I click the edit button the edit mode opens but the buttons flash up white and then turn grey and do not respond. While recent imported pictures do edit properly I do not understand what happened and how to correct this.If anyone can help me I would be grateful.
