I purchased a new iPhone 8plus. My new pictures start at img_001.jpg. Can I change that to continue from where my old picture numbers finished?

As far as I know the only way to do that would be to restore from a previous iOS device backup. It could even be an iPad where the numbering starts where the previous device left off.
I've done that with my iPhone 7, which I set up from a backup of my iPhone 4S. It's still got the Camera Roll from my older phone.
