power adapter works but no light at adopter connection point and no power

I am using macbook pro 15.6'. Till yesterday it was working fine but sudden today i found my adopter point is not lighting up once i connect the port. The adopter is providing power when i touch i can feel the power and even after connecting the to laptop power port i can feel power on my laptop body. Can anyone suggest what problem it can be and how to solve it?

Power adapter not connected - but system assumes, that it is connected My MacBook Pro assumes, that the Power Adapter is connected, but it isn't. See the battery history in the last 24 hours: the battery level goes down (from 9pm - 3am). But the horizontal bar with the lightning symbol shows, that the power adapter was connected. That's wrong. During the night, my MacBook was not connected and that is the reason why the battery level goes down. Has anyone a similar problem?
