Install Update Hung Up

Am trying to install the latest OS update. Computer restarted but is hung up on the screen that says “Installing Software Update.” The progress bar is on the far left and hasn’t moved in 30 minutes. Is there a way to safely abort this update installation? I will then restart the update anew.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Mac OS update froze With “one minute remaining” on the Mac OS system update to Monterey, the update seemed to have froze. The “one minute remaining” message under the progress bar has been there for hours! I have tried turning off the computer and then on again, but that progress bar and message remain! OS update stuck on Less than a minute remaining Tried updating the software and it’s stuck on less than a minut even if left overnight. If I reboot it just restarts the update and gets stuck again. Doesn’t reboot in safe mode. Over 80gb free disk space before update begun. All external hard drives unplugged.

If you are trying to upgrade to v10.13 High Sierra, make sure your Mac meets the requiremetns > macOS High Sierra - Technical Specifications
