Safari not supported

I often have trouble logging onto various websites, the latest being Rogers Business - trying to log into my account. I am repeatedly told to use Google Chrome because Safari is not supported but I prefer to use Safari. Is there something I can do to avoid this issue? Why would companies not design their sites to work with Safari?
