Why do I get the message "... MAIL Interrupt shut down progress..."

Whan I shut down my MacBook Pro macOS 10.13.3?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)

Mail sometimes hangs when closing so one must do a force quit on it.


Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and reboot normally. Then shutdown again and see if there's any improvement.
