I am trying to reinstall the OS after completely erasing my hard drive following the steps in macOS recovery. When I boot up holding the control and R keys, it shows a horizontal bar and seems to be loading something but when the bar gets about 2/3

I am trying to reinstall the OS after completely erasing my hard drive following the steps in macOS recovery. When I boot up holding the control and R keys, it shows a horizontal bar and seems to be loading something but when the bar gets about 2/3 done, it goes away and I am left with a blank white screen that just sits there forever.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
