I am trying to reinstall the OS after completely erasing my hard drive following the steps in macOS recovery. When I boot up holding the control and R keys, it shows a horizontal bar and seems to be loading something but when the bar gets about 2/3 done, it goes away and I am left with a blank white screen that just sits there forever.

Hi,

You'd better contact with Apple support or make Genius Bar reservation to tell them about your problem.

PS/ Resetting NVRAM as well as SMC could solve the problem.
