HomePod dropped off somehow as an output device on my MB Air.

So I can't play music from my laptop. Any help on how to reconnect HomePod to the Mac? I can play from my iPhone but if I'm on my phone at all it will interrupt the music and play and auto-play video sound which is imbedded everywhere on FB, Insta, Twitter, etc.

Could your network be set up using any wireless isolation feature which give wireless devices access to the Internet but not devices on the same network. Try rebooting the router, iPhone and HomePod, and if needs be use Reset HomePod - Apple Support to set up the device again from scratch. Ideally you want to allow connections from any device on the same network, and have your network configured such that each device can see other wired and wireless devices.
