Calls received on Watch 3 only

I have been getting several calls (all wrong numbers) that would ring on my Apple Watch 3 only. The call would not be picked up on my iPhone (8+), nor any other connected devices (Mac, iPad). Both Verizon and Apple said this is not possible and have no answers. Just the same it happens quite a bit and is really annoying. I have Reset, Re-Paired, Switched on/off, Airplane Mode on/off. So far no luck.

I even tried calling the "shared" number that Verizon attached to the AP3, but get no response.

Wondering if I have a defective unit?
