Restarting my Podcast

Hi - I am restarting my video podcast after a hiatus of a couple of years. The framework still exists in the Store, and I have attempted to send an updated summary through WordPress, which hosts my podcast. I haven't been able to figure out a way of testing my feed to see if it still works/is still connected. And since it's been a couple of years, it's occurred to me that things might have changed on the iTunes end in the interim.

I will be uploading a trailer to my website tomorrow morning. Do I just wait to see if it rolls over to iTunes as it used to? Or is there a way to check on it now in advance?

Any help would be appreciated.

My podcast is called All About African Violets. Here is what Wordpress says my feed is: https://allaboutafricanviolets.com/category/podcasts/feed/

Your podcast is still in the iTunes Store at All About African Violets by Adrienne "Annie" Rieck on Apple Podcasts

The feed has only one episode, but as it has no playable media it doesn't appear in the Store or when subscribing. (It also has no title.) Normally I can check whether the feed the Store is using matches the one you quote, but it's not working in this case. It probably is. You should be able to add an episode in the normal way: when you've done that and uploaded the feed again you should subscribe to it from the 'Subscribe' button on the Store page and check that the episode appears in iTunes (in the Library/Podcasts section): it may take the Store a couple of days to catch up, possibly more as the feed's been moribund for some time. You can also check the status of your podcast as http://podcastsconnect.apple.com - click on the image for the podcast and it should show as 'Active'.

Your feed still has no 'enclosure' tag containing the URL of your playable media, so won't work in iTunes. Your site has a page for the episode with an embedded player of an MP4 video file, which in itself ought to be OK, but there presumably has to be another step you have to take to get it into the feed. The embedded player itself won't work, you have to provide a properly formatted link to the actual MP4 file.

Roger - thanks for continuing this discussion. I appreciate your help!

I presume this enclosure tag is something that I have to find within WordPress. Yes? I can see that this is the URL on the Wordpress Media page for the trailer that I just uploaded: https://videos.files.wordpress.com/eglp1omm/trailer1_hd.mp4

So, somehow I have to get that set as part of the feed I posted in my original post?

Further - Roger, apparently Wordpress itself no longer supports video podcasting (it did before) and I have to get a Blubrry plugin and resubmit to Apple. I'll be bummed to lose my reviews and star ratings if that's what happens. Just wanted you to know that I'm pursuing this and will check back to let you know my progress.

Thanks again for your patience and help!

Your show's directory listing in Apple Podcasts is working off of this FeedBurner feed URL:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/AllAboutAfricanViolets

If you still have access to this FeedBurner feed, go to the settings for this feed and make sure the current podcast feed being generated by WordPress is set as the FeedBurner feed's source URL. Then, go to the Troubleshootize tab and click the Resync button.
