I recently purchased the game, "The Witness" on my iPhone, and I tried to install it on my mac, but it doesn't appear that I am able to install it via app store on my mac. Is there any way to fix this or can I only play on my phone?

No it cannot be fixed, you can only play on your iPhone. iOS, and macOS apps must be purchased separately.

Check the developer's web site to see if they have a version for the Mac.
It is on the app store but it said that I have not purchased it.

On the Mac App Store? Yes, you will need to purchase it for the Mac, as it is a different version than on your phone.
Can the Witness be transferred between OS's?
