Question: Clone User Account MBP

I have a 2009 MacPro running El Capitan, and would like to duplicate my user account on a 2013 MBP (Sierra). I've 'successfully'(?) transferred my apps and account settings using Migration Assistant. But my user account has not shown up on the MBP. I don't want to set up new user account on MBP and transfer all these settings manually. Can anybody advise?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

You could download a cloner: for example CarbonCopyCloner or Superduper.

BUT since the two macs have a different OS you have the risk that the settings in Mail, or any other app is different in Sierra compared to ElCapitan....

I think that the Migration Assistant and the advised by Eric do the job correctly, that is what they are designed for.

Since my original post I have set up a 500gb SSD drive on my MacPro to speed things up a bit. I want to use this as startup drive and use the other drive bays for storage. Once again I ran Migration Assistant, which migrated my apps but not my user account. So I did the command line voodoo to re-run setup assistant. It gave me an additional user (root) but didn't import my user account and password to new startup disk. Can anybody help?

When using Migration Assistant or Setup Assistant, are your choosing user accounts when selecting what to restore? I have never read a post where the user account wasn't transferred if that option was selected. Try running them again and only transfer the user account.
