save photos to itunes...how?

I have an iPhone 6. I want to clear photos and videos but not lose them. I think I can move them to iTunes but I don't know how. I have downloaded iTunes and plugged in phone to laptop. Now what?

Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201302 - "Learn how to transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or PC. We'll also show you how to make your photos available on all your devices with iCloud Photo Library."

You are going to want to "import" your photos to the Photos library on your computer (not sure if you have a Mac or PC?).

You import the photos into a photos app, and then you use iTunes to sync those photos back to your phone, by pulling the ones you select via iTunes from that library and moving them into your phone.

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB - Apple Support

From the requirement you originally stated: I want to clear photos and videos but not lose them, you definitely do not want to use iCloud Photo Library, so don't turn that on in your iOS or Mac Settings.

Best of luck,
