Preview a print before it is printed on MacBook Pro and make any adjustments/alterations before it is send.

I have been reading the comments back in 2011 of how to do a preview of a print before it is printed. My question is the same question but for Word for Mac on my MacBook Pro..? It is something that I found very easy when using Microsoft, but unable to do on my MacBook Pro with Word for Mac (I am fast realising that when I changed from a PC to MacBook I should not have purchased Word for Mac, but use Pages which comes with the MacBook Pro). I also need the Preview in Excel. Thank you in anticipation of receiving a reply to my question... Jill.

Hi Jilly,

You can view a Preview of the paper output from any application on a Mac using the PDF button at the bottom left corner of the Print dialogue.

With the document open, press command-P to open the Print dialogue.

Click the PDF button and choose Open PDF in Preview.

The Mac will create a PDF document, launch the Preview application, and display the document as it will appear when sent to paper. You can leave the document open and switch back and forth between Preview (to view what it would look like if printed when you created the PDF) and Word (where you can edit as you see fit). The Preview document wll not update automatically, but you can produce and view new versions at any time in the process, and you can discard the 'temporary' preview at any time by closing it and choosing to discard if presented with that choice.

Regards,

Barry
