How can I restore the keyboard for texting?

If you tap into the text area where you would type a message, and see the blinking icon there, then the keyboard should appear. If not, the try force closing the app. How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Supportthen open it back up again.
