Question: Elevator music while viewing videos on MacBook Pro

Every time I want to watch a home video in Quick Time Player on my MacbookPro, it plays a bunch of elevator music and I don’t know how to turn it off. I can’t listen to what is filmed without this dang music playing simultaneously. Please help!

If you click on a audio or video icon in the Finder and set it playing, or via Quick Look, and subsequently launch a movie in QuickTime, both audio tracks will play concurrently while watching the video. This would also be true for a browser based audio source that would compete with the movie soundtrack.
