How to fix random highlighting on Application window?

I have recently had the problem where each time I bring a window for an application, for example Finder or iTunes, over to my second display, I see a mysterious blue and occasionally black highlight over various pieces of text in the window.

Here's what it looks like before I bring the window to the monitor:

Now after I move it to the other display:

As you can see, there is a highlight over all of the files within the folder.

Whenever I click the files though, the highlight disappears for that specific file.

Any help will be appreciated.
