How to delete the People album from the iPhone

I want to remove the 'People' album from my iPhone.

I did not ask for this album and there was no option provided by Apple to opt in or out of creating the album.

This is a very big mistake on the part of Apple or any other service provider to 'assume' every user desires such features.

It needs resolution and as easy as it was to assume it should be easy to rectify that assumption.

The opt in or out option should be provided so users can decide for themselves.
