Serial number and model number not match

hello. I would buy a private ipad mini 4. The guy send me photos and there is a ipad mini 4. But when i verifying the serial number from setting it look like it is a ipad 4 generation. When i verifying the model number from setting it look like it is ipad mini 4. On the back case, the serial number it is for ipad mini 4.

what is wrong? Why the serial number and the model number from setting not mach for same ipad device?

When in doubt forget about purchasing this iPad.

If nothing matches up there is a problem.

Did you ask the seller if the iPad in question has been restored to factory settings with NO activation Lock active and no issues with being able to setup an iCloud account?

The above are very important questions to ask, too!

If you are going to meet with him, then you'll know then if it is an iPad 4th gen or an iPad Mini 4.

Obviously, the iPad Mini is much smaller than an iPad 4th gen.

when i meet with him to buy, he will reset all settings to factory. that is ok. He said he don’t know about apple (i don’t know if he lies to me). I live in Romania where apple is expensive and the people go for android or windows devices...so, i don’t know...maybe he is telling the true...
