how to get free apps without requiring a credit card number?

Okay, so i have an iPhone se and Im on the “family sharing plan” with my dad and step mom and its all hooked up to his card but because i got a new phone the card number isnt hooked up to my account. So, my phone wont even let me get free apps it just keeps telling me to go into my settings and select finish putting in my purchase choices or whatever. I need help.

Hey Tayylorcroy,

If I understand correctly, you have a new iPhone and it is asking you to add payment information. Since this is a new iPhone, you may need to make sure the settings are correct to be used with Family Sharing.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > Invitations. If you're using iOS 10.2 or earlier, go to Settings > iCloud > Invitations.

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Manage Family.

To accept an invitation, follow the onscreen instructions. When you join a family, you might be asked to confirm your account information and to opt-in to any features or services your family set up.
