I have a Mac mini running the latest High Sierra OS. I need to copy old photo cds to an external hard drive, but it's not showing as mounted on my desktop. When I check Disk Utility, it shows up there.
Why is it not showing on the desktop, and what can I do to fix the situation?

From your Finder menu > Preferences > General and be sure to check mark "CDs, DVDs and iPods".

Choose Preferences from the Finder menu, click on General, and check the box for them. if they don't appear, try using the Disk Utility to image the folders on them.
