I can't send email through my AOL account on my iphone 8 or my MacBook, but I can receive through that account.

I can't send email via Apple Mail through my AOL account from my iPhone 8+ or my MacBook, but I can receive email just fine. This problem started on its own yesterday afternoon. I sent an email at 2:45 pm, but the next attempt just a few minutes later failed. I started receiving all sorts of error messages, and the email is stuck in the Outbox.

iPhone 8+ with iOS 11.2.6

MacBook Pro with MacOS 10.13.3 and Mail 11.2

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 11.2.6

Have you changed any AOL passwords, or added 2 factor authentication to your AOL ID?

The normal advice for a problem like this is to delete the AOL account, restart the phone, and add the account back.

No, I have made no changes to my AOL account. As I said in the original post, I sent emails just fine until all of a sudden they just stopped. I had hoped to avoid the delete and add back approach, but you may be right about that.
