Photos slideshow changes order of photos

I want to create a slideshow of an album.

When I click file->create->slideshow it creates a project and changes the order of the photos entirely, no matter what theme I have selected.

How I get the slideshow to display the pictures in the same order as the album?

Thanks,

Thank you from me too.

What I can't understand is that Apple reads all these comments and has not done anything to fix this bug.

Why would anyone design a system with random ordering of the slides????

It should never have gotten beyond alpha testing.

I had the same problem and Apple is aware of this. Here is your solution. Press the control key and then click on the album that has the photos organized the way you want. The menus will pop up and slide your arrow over to create and the slide it over to slide show. Once you've done that you will have a slideshow of the album in the order you want.

I am using this method to create slideshow projects from an album, see : How to turn an Album into a Slideshow and Preserve the Sorting

We must not use the file menu to create a slideshow project. That seems to be broken. Instead ctrl-click the album in the sidebar and use the create command there to create the project from the album. That is working for me.

When I click file->create->slideshow it creates a project and changes the order of the photos entirely, no matter what theme I have selected.

Try to create the slideshow from the contextual menu instead of from the file menu.

  • Select the sorted album with the photos in the sidebar.
  • Ctrl-click or right click or tap the album with two fingers.
  • Now select "Create > Slideshow"

For some reason this will preserve the order (at least for my albums in Photos 3.0) while using the file menu will not .

Perhaps it is considered as an unimportant, missing feature and not as a bug. The user guide is not mentioning the sorting of photos in a slideshow at all anywhere, when we add photos to a slideshow. The same happens, when we create calendars or books, btw, or when we create a shared album from selected photos. The photos can get mixed up.

I wish, we could make the developers understand, that the sequence of photos can be important and should be preserved. When we want to tell a story, the photos should not be shuffled randomly.

Not really a reply but thanks for the information. I have been struggling with this issue on a slideshow. Have not been able to find any information on the Apple website. I will now make an album with the photos in the order I want and then convert to a new slideshow. Do you know if I will still be able to apply text? Do you know if there is a limit on the number of photos that can be included in a slideshow?

I hope Apple will correct this---seems like not needed extra work.

Thanks much for your tips.

thank you very much for responding. I do know how you can set slideshow speed from within Projects, but issue with Projects is I cannot control the sequence of the slides, it is random. The workaround for this is to create an Album and right click to run Slideshow. The choices are not the same from this method, you can only select theme or music, right. Are you able to control the slide sequence when you run slideshow from within Projects?
