App Photos on Mac does not update with iCloud

Hi Community,

I have a problem with the Photos App on my MacBook Pro.

Some weeks ago, it has stopped updating with iCloud: pictures taken with my iPhone are sync with my iCloud account, I see it on www.icloud.com, but not on the Mac... The app on the Mac keeps showing the message "Updating..." at the bottom of the Photos screen, but since weeks now, no update....

Any idea?

Thanks a lot!

What changed just before this occurred? What exactly have you done to correct it?

this article may help - Check the status of your library in Photos for macOS - Apple Support

To check for specific photos with problems use the two tips at the end of the article - make two new smart albums (file menu ==> new smart album)

1 - Photo - is - referenced

2 - Photo - is - unable to upload to iCloud Photo Library

Both should be empty

Where is your Photos Library stored? If it is on your system drive - do you have plenty of free storage on the system drive? If the library is on an external drive - what is the file system format and how is the drive connected?

How are you connecting to the internet? Photos on High Sierra cannot sync the library, if you are using a cellular hotspot. You need a Wi-Fi connection. And you may want to disable third-party security software (antivirus software, firewalls). Not all are compatible with High Sierra and Photos.

Hi to everyone,

It is fixed!

What I have done:

- deselect iCloud sync

- close iPhotos

- restart the computer

- have a coffee, some chat (ie wait 10 mins or so)

- restart iPhotos, and enable iCloud Sync: the problem was still here with status saying "updating"...

- delete one shared album

- as a result, iPhotos immediately crashed

- restarted it and immediately sync was working....

Looks like a good old bug...

Thanks to @Leonie ans @LarryHN for your help

Cheers
