trouble copying /pasting text

When copying hebrew and english text from blueletterbible.org does the hebrew not copy correctly but into an odd character stream?

For example:

What is happening it pastes like this:

æÈòÇ÷

za`aq

When pasting into Pages it should look like this: זָעַקza`aq

Using MacBook Pro with up to date software.

Sometimes this problem exists and other times it does not.

I downloaded a Hebrew keyboard but that doesn't affect the copy/paste functionality from Safari to Pages.

There's no hebrew on that page. Is this kind of page what you are talking about?

Try copy/pasting into TextEdit instead of Pages. From TextEdit to Pages should work too. For some reason directly from that web page to Pages uses the wrong encoding.

Yes the link to Genesis 1:1 is a good example. I am trying to take just the Hebrew word and the English version over to my notes in Pages (where I may later more easily take it to Keynote).

You are correct that TextEdit works well as a temporary spot. However, even there I can replicate the same problem as in when pasting to Pages.

For example in TextEdit:

1. This is the response when I just paste the copied text: øÅàùÄÑéú
re'shiyth

2 This is the response when I "paste and match style": רֵאשִׁית re'shiyth

#2 maintains the characters correctly. This is the exact same response that I receive in Pages sometimes. However, recently I can not achieve the second response at all in Pages.

So TextEdit at least is a good work around at the moment.
