How do I delete a mailbox?

When I try to delete using mailbox-edit-delete, all I see is mailbox-edit-new mailbox. Very frustrating.

iPhone 6, iOS 10.1.1

Where are you trying to delete the mailbox? On My Mac? A mailbox associated with your account? A sub mailbox? More information would help.

Sorry I wasn’t clearer.

I go to my account in mail, I click on the account, this brings up a list of folders you can sort mail into. How do I delete one of these folders?

Does control - clicking on the mailbox give you a delete option?
