Can I turn off drawing so I can use Pencil to scroll and type?

i want to use my Pencil to scroll documents and to type. However, with new capabilities I don’t see howto turn drawing features off.

In Pages, Numbers or Keynote, no. A Pencil paired with an iPad Pro and using the ver.4 updates of those apps is detected as a dedicated drawing device only. Navigation needs to be done with your fingers. Currently at least, there is no way to alter that behavior.

With the current iWorks apps, it appears this is no longer possible.

Use your fingers for now to scroll and type.

When Microsoft forced the pencil to be a drawing tool in Office I assumed it was to “encourage“ Apple users to switch to Windows machines, but now I see it’s more likely Apple is at fault. They’re shooting themselves in the foot with this and it works against their claim that the iPad Pro is “all the computer you need” to do serious work. I love my iPad and use it for everything *except* Office (especially Excel) because I can’t navigate a spreadsheet without touching the screen and leaving a mark. This is frustrating at best and infuriating at worst!

PLEASE fix this. It’s not a “feature” - it’s a mistake!
