External microphone not working for iPhone

I recently purchased a few lav microphones that should work with my iPhone 6, via the 3.5mm jack. None of them are working.

One is a powered mic. Another is not powered. And a third can be powered or not. All three are using a 3.5mm TRRS connector.

I have successfully tested these microphone's on my wife's iPhone 6s and on my daughter's iPad.

When I plug in a set of headphones with a microphone, the mic works fine. But when I plug in the lav mics, none of them are recognized.

I've tried using the Voice Memos app, the Camera app, and FiLMiC Pro. All apps will recognize the headset microphone, but not the lav mics.

On another note, I recently replaced the Lightning Connector and Headphone Jack because my Lighting port was broken. However I don't think this is related because I had the microphone problem before I replaced this part. And I suspect that if the problem was hardware related, the headset microphone probably wouldn't work.

Lastly, I tried "Reset All Settings". It did not resolve the problem.

Can anyone suggest a solution?
